Quality control starts with clear requirements

Manufacturing and inspection requirements should be discussed together. For each request, state the applicable documentation, the important characteristics and the results you want to receive on delivery.

Reference documentation

The drawing, the model and the quotation request must use the same revision. Highlight standards, approved deviations and any changes to requirements. Clarifying them before ordering reduces the risk of different interpretations.

Which inspections you require

Specify the dimensions or characteristics that must be measured and documented. If you have requirements for first-part inspection, measurement frequency or inspection of the whole batch, include them from the start. The availability and scope of inspections are confirmed in the quotation.

Delivery documents

State whether the project requires material documents, a dimensional report or batch identification. The document type, content and availability must be agreed for the order concerned.

In which condition the part is accepted

Treatments or coatings can change dimensions and surfaces. The documentation must state the condition to which the final requirements apply and any special acceptance rules.

Frequently asked questions
